The tacos were amazing with moist, well seasoned meat! I also loved the horchata! The downside of the meal was the tortilla chips provided seemed old and dry.

I've been coming here with my family since I was young and I can't ever eat any other tacos! They have the best meat and cook it extra crunchy for me just how I love it. The green salsa is also the best ever!

Never again in life people! This AIN'T it! I came here last Saturday and ordered my standard steak tacos with a Jamaica drink. I decided to give them another try to see if they had an off night. When I got home my tacos were bathing in oil. Piles of grease on the meat, cilantro, and onions. I was starving so I ate one taco. I couldn't finish the other so I threw it away. I was so sick on Saturday, Sunday and even Monday from engulfing pure grease. I will never return. U pay 8 bucks for 2 tacos and a drink, it should be right!

After a fellow Chicago mom/foodie recently blogged her 10 favorite spots in RP, naming this this one place she'd eat steak tacos for the rest of her life, should she have to choose, I decided to cheat on what has been our favorite spot for years (El Asadero) and try it.

What follows is the break-up letter I was forced to write Taqueria El Asadero after trying Taqueria Hernandez.

    Dear TeA:

You have been a loyal lover for years. We've enjoyed many a steak taco, waiting in lines, perfuming ourselves in wafting waves of steaky smoke, only to enjoy what was, up until a couple of weeks ago, the best taco we've ever eaten.

But then I met Taqueria Hernandez, and I am forever changed. I'm sorry. It's not you, it's me.

The tacos at TH were just slightly better than the ones you've been dishing up. The tortillas were firmer, less soggy, the cheese was creamier and more generous, and the steak had the most satisfying crispiness.

I'm not saying I will never come back to you. I'm just saying that we need a break. I need some time to figure out who I am--and how many tacos I can eat.

    Formerly yours,
    D

I always get the taco dinner deal. Great price for the amount and quality food.
